A weekend of festivities and surfing awaits The Single Fin Mingle

The Sumner Surf Life Saving club hosted the opening ceremony for The Single Fin Mingle last night. Matua John from Surfing Tribe welcomed visiting guests in Te Reo, with words and waiata. Chatter was high as old friends reconnected whilst new faces 'mingled' and made connections that might last well past the weekend. Matua touched on connection in a world full of conflict.

Today is day one of competition, little waves are rolling in and that's all these surfers need. The event is already through the first rounds and both the men and women have displayed some vibrant style- walking up and down their boards with an essence of swagger.

Here's a summary of what we've had so far: including the Powhiri last night and the set up for action on a beautiful Sumner morning.
